Remember those photos of everyone flying in balloons at dawn? Yes, yes, this is Cappadocia, the one in Turkey. Fascinating views, streamlined tourist entertainment, and there is nothing wrong with that. By the way, do you know why balloons take off so early in the morning? This is due to the air temperature. The lower it is, the easier it is for the balloon to rise to dazzling heights.

What if we say that Cappadocia can be seen not only from bird flight heights, but also from the ground? Also, by bike. YouTravel.me travel expert Pavel will tell you how to see what is inaccessible to the majority.

A big plus of Cappadocia is authentic hotels, but you need to book in advance

Question: Why is it worth going on a bike tour along Cappadocia?

Paul: This is not the first time I have been conducting cycling tours and I understand that the main task of such a trip is not to ride a lot, but to ride beautifully. How to achieve this? Choose a variety of activities that will give travelers a variety of emotions. On a bike tour you can see the country and get to know its culture, because this is not a triathlon, we have time to admire and enjoy.

Question: What do you need to go on a bike tour?

Pavel: It's simple – you need to know how to ride a bike. Absolutely any healthy person will cope with the route. We provided for an escort car and frequent stops. Moreover, in order to maintain morale throughout the tour, we use a drop off on the route. For example, we climb higher into the mountains so that there are more descents than ascents. Of course, the bus helps to significantly save the energy of the group members.

Question: Where can I get a bike?

Pavel:Professional bicycles with wide stable tires are available for rent on site. If you have your own bike, then you should keep in mind that it can be much more expensive to bring from Russia than to rent it on the spot. I would caution – there are a lot of thorns in Cappadocia, especially in autumn, so there can be a lot of punctures on tires, especially if it is a non-professional city bike. Therefore, it is better not to carry an unprepared bike, even if it is your favorite. What is more important, the rented bike will be washed for you every day, at the end of the day it will be loaded and unloaded, and prepared for the start in the morning. Much less hassle.

Question: At what age can you participate in a bike tour?< /b>

Paul:If the child is over 12 years old, then I will not have any doubts. In practice, children are not the last or lagging behind in the group, bicycles are their element. There is no upper age limit. It all depends, of course, on lifestyle – if a person goes hiking, goes in for sports, appears in the gym, then there will be no problems. If the child is under 10 years old, then I'm interested in how well he owns a bicycle, for example, if he knows how to switch gears.

Question: What accommodation do you choose for a bike tour?

Pavel: The most comfortable. Travelers on this tour have the privilege of being able to ride off the beaten track, feel like they're in the wild, but still end up sleeping in a soft bed at a hotel. Overnight stays in tents are not provided along the way, because the route is built in such a way that you can see a lot without sacrificing the usual comfort of a city dweller. And yet, hotels in Cappadocia are special – there are cave or stone rooms. Hammam, massage are available in the hotels. Can you imagine what an endless pleasure it is when after a day on a bike, a lot of emotions and impressions, you can relax in the spa? By the way, for lovers of ultra-comfort, there is an option of an electric bike, with which even minimal slides are not terrible.

Question: What impresses travelers the most?

Pavel: We all know that Cappadocia is hot air balloons. But when I ask my group what they remember most, they rarely remember the balloons. For many, this is just the icing on the cake.

Soanly canyon, which we will see during the hiking part of the route, is much steeper – it is 10 kilometers of absolutely wild nature, there are no tourists at all. Fortunately, no special equipment is required. This canyon really amazes many. And believe me, not everyone knows about him, try to search. The mega-famous Saklikent canyon loses Soanly for sure.

In second place in terms of impressions are underground cities. Here you can easily feel like in an adventure movie about Indiana Jones. On the route there are even temples with preserved frescoes of the 7th-11th centuries.

Question: What about the balloon? Shall we fly right?

Pavel: Exactly. We have 5 days to catch flying weather.

Question: What if it rains?

Pavel: I immediately warn travelers that the only equipment they need to take with them is a raincoat. Just in case. We have a guided sightseeing tour in the plan, which we flexibly move according to the schedule and this sightseeing bus day is a day with an unfavorable weather forecast. If all the days are clear, then we set up unloading and ride the bus.

Question: When is the best time to go?

Pavel:In September and October it is quite comfortable, the heat is no longer worth it, the fruits ripen. You can stop along the way and eat something from the tree – grapes, nuts, pears. It is very hot in summer.

Question: How to get to Cappadocia?

Pavel: Now there are many flights to Turkey , especially from Moscow. Plus, there are buses from Istanbul, Antalya, Ankara and Dalaman. From Istanbul, you can easily fly by plane – as a rule, there are several flights a day. Life hack – take a separate ticket to Istanbul, then to Kayseri, it will be cheaper.

For all those who have been looking for an unusual and atypical Cappadocia for a long time, a bike tour   is a great chance to get acquainted with the culture in the company of like-minded people.
