There will be no more strikes. Lufthansa and the pilots' union have reached an agreement

Lufthansa pilots and Lufthansa Cargo won pay increases. This was agreed upon by the airline's management and the pilots' union Vereinigung Cockpit union. The base salary will increase by 490 euros in two stages: from August 1, 2022, i.e. retroactively, and from April 1, 2023.

In addition, entry-level co-pilots will receive an increase of about 20 percent on the base salary for the entire duration of the agreement, and the captains of the highest qualification — 5.5 percent.

The signed document includes a settlement clause until June 30, 2023. During this period, pilot strikes are excluded. In this way, passengers can plan their travels with peace of mind and confidence.

Over the coming months, the parties promise to “continue a constructive exchange of views on various topics.” Lufthansa and the Vereinigung Cockpit have agreed to keep additional topics and negotiations confidential.

Deutsche Lufthansa AG Chief Human Resources and Labor Relations Officer Michael Niggemann said: “We are delighted to have reached this agreement with the Vereinigung Cockpit. Base salary increase — it is a guarantee of a proportionate increase in entry-level salaries. The next few months will be spent in a confidential dialogue with the Vereinigung Cockpit. The overall goal — to offer our pilots attractive and safe jobs with prospects for further development.
