The famous Shepheard Hotel opened its first doors in 1841 and remains an iconic landmark of the city, well known internationally.
Comprehensive reconstruction of the object is already underway — Parisian interior designer Sibylle de Margerie is tasked with preserving historic design while creating state-of-the-art infrastructure and communications. Upon completion, expected in 2024, the hotel will reopen as the Mandarin Oriental Shepheard.
Located on the east bank of the Nile River in the heart of Cairo, the hotel will have 188 standard rooms and 88 suites. Many of them — with balconies offering great views of the city, the Nile and Gezira Island.
Five restaurants and bars will open at the Mandarin Oriental Shepheard in Cairo, including a rooftop restaurant for al fresco dining and also an exclusive club lounge. The hotel will also offer spacious event facilities, including a rooftop ballroom, making it the perfect venue for conferences and celebrations of all sizes.
Designed by Al Sharif for Tourism & Hotels, Egyptian company, “daughter” Saudi Al Sharif Group Holding based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The organization won a concession to renovate the facility from the Egyptian General Company for Tourism and Hotels in 2020.
