After two years of virtual award ceremonies The World Airline Awards 2022 has returned to its regular format, with airlines from all over the world taking part. The event took place at the historic Langham Hotel in London.
Widely known as the “Oscars of the Aviation Industry”, the World Airline Awards were established in 1999. It is considered to be completely independent and impartial, since all costs for customer surveys and awarding of winners are paid by the organizers — Skytrax.
The CEO of Qatar Airways Group, HE Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said: “To be named the World's Best Airline” has always been the goal, but winning it for the seventh time and getting three additional awards — it is a testament to the hard work of our employees. Their dedication ensures that passengers have the best flying experience with Qatar Airways. Singapore Airlines ranked second in the world, third — Emirates, the fourth — from ANA All Nippon Airways. In fifth place is Qantas Airways. In total, there were more than 350 airlines in the preliminary list.
Among the winners of the award with the maximum number of awards — Qatar Airways and Singapore Airlines with 9 statuettes. In North America, Delta Air Lines has been successful, winning six awards. Europe is dominated by Turkish Airlines, which has received four awards, including the title of best airline in Europe.
India's Vistara was another winner with two awards: “Best Airline in India and South Asia”; and “Best Personnel Among Airlines in India and South Asia”.
airBaltic celebrated its first success at the World Airline Awards 2022 with the awards: “Best Airline in Eastern Europe”, “The most advanced airline in Europe” and “Best Airline Staff in Eastern Europe”.
