Several international airlines have requested permission from the Indian Goa airport to serve in the winter season of 2023. They represent Malaysia, Israel, the UK, Bahrain, Oman, Kazakhstan and Russia.
Goa Airport Director Dhanamjaya Rao confirmed that seven countries have requested seats. “Some of them have already received approval, the decision on others is in the process. All questions will be answered by the end of September, because flight programs will start in October.
Goa Tourism Minister Rohan Haunte noted that Goa tourism depends on two countries: Great Britain and Russia.
In 2019, more than 7 million local tourists and 931,000 foreigners rested in Goa. But due to the pandemic, tourism has dwindled in 2020 and 2021, with the coastal state receiving 3 million Indians and just 32,000 overseas travelers.
