Flower auction in the Netherlands
The Netherlands is famous all over the world not only for its free customs and drug legalization, but also for its wonderful flower markets.
One of the largest flower auctions in the world, Verenigde Bloemenveilingen Aalsmeer, operates in the Netherlands.
More than 20 million flowers from all over the world are sold almost every day in the small village of Aalsmeer.
518,000 square meters of territory has been allocated for the auction hangar, which is completely filled with boxes of all kinds of flowers.
Before selling, the flowers are sorted into boxes and cooled. All this is done at night so that customers can purchase goods in the morning.
By the end of the day, absolutely all the flowers are sold out. The famous Dutch auction system contributes to this.
The Dutch auction consists in the fact that first the highest price for the item being sold is announced, and then the bids are reduced until the first buyer agrees to it, to whom this item is sold.
The bidding process can be seen on large screens inside the auction hall.
The Dutch auction system allows you to sell all flowers in one day and maximize your profit.
