< p>With a job seeker visa, foreigners are allowed to enter a certain country for the main purpose of looking for work.

They are allowed to work for a limited period of time until their visa expires. However, foreigners can legally stay in countries that offer such opportunities.

Currently, six countries in the European Union offer job seeker visas, allowing foreign nationals to come and find work while temporarily residing in Europe. These are Austria, Denmark, Germany, Portugal, Spain and Sweden.


The Austrian job seeker visa allows foreigners to enter this country for the purpose of employment, work in Austria for six months under the Red-White-Red Card scheme.

The Austrian authorities have identified a list of professions that are considered in short supply this year: agricultural engineers, energy specialists, as well as technicians with a high level of training in the field of energy technologies and others.

Nevertheless, only “the most highly skilled workers” are eligible for this visa. After employment, foreigners can receive a “Red-White-Red Card”.

In addition, candidates must score 70 out of 100 on the very highly qualified selection criteria.


Denmark has one of the shortest working weeks in the world: on average, expats work 37 hours a week, employees have five weeks of vacation, which allows them to spend more time with their families.

In order to use a job seeker visa, you must:

– create a case order ID;

– pay fees;

– provide the necessary documents;

– submit the visa application form;

– wait for the results of the application;

– submit biometric data;

-wait for a response

According to a report from the Pay Center, the employment rate in Denmark today is over 68%, and the unemployment rate does not exceed two to four percent. Foreigners from third countries choose the following areas for their seasonal work: farms, employment in hotels, bars and restaurants. The demand for such vacancies is limited, so qualified specialists have a better chance.

At the same time, the most significant shortage was noted in Denmark this year in the following professions: lawyer, architect, marine engineer, journalist, industrial designer.


Thanks to the applicant visa, foreigners have the right to stay in Germany for six months and find work, and then apply for a work permit and stay in country for a long time.

Citizens from the following countries do not need a visa to seek employment: European Union, European Economic Area and Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, Israel, South Korea, Japan, Canada, USA.

Citizens from the countries mentioned above must obtain a residence permit before they can work in Germany.

In order to use the applicant visa, applicants must meet the following conditions:

– be a third-country national who needs a visa to enter Germany ;

– have at least five years of experience in a particular profession;

– have sufficient financial resources to live in Germany;

– have a valid proof of completed academic or vocational education;< /p>

-possess a qualification recognized in Germany or equivalent to a diploma obtained in this country.

Earlier, data provided by the Institute for Employment Research showed that there were about 1.98 million vacancies in Germany. Therefore, the government of the country is seeking to ease labor migration rules as part of efforts to manage the current situation.


Portugal allows foreigners to enter the country and stay for a period of 120 days with an option to extend for 60 days. The job seeker visa allows only one entry into this country, as verified by the country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

As soon as the maximum validity period of an applicant's visa has expired and an employment relationship has not been established and the process of applying for a residence permit has not begun, the visa holder is obliged to leave the country.

The Ministry specified that in this case the right to renew the application for a new visa is due no earlier than one year after the expiration of the previous visa.

Portugal is facing a significant labor shortage and the government announced last year that it would automatically grant one-year residence permits to citizens of countries belonging to the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP).


The Spanish job search visa or residence permit in Spain attracts a large number of foreign workers.

The applicant visa allows students to obtain a residence permit in Spain for a period of 12 months for looking for a job or starting your own business after completing your studies in Spain.

To be eligible for this visa, applicants must meet the following requirements:

– have a previous student visa;

– have completed a Level 6 European Framework Program

– have completed formal studies;

– graduate before applying.

Application can be submitted between 60 days before the expiration date of the previous document and up to 90 days after.

< p>The immigration office has a maximum of 20 days to issue a response. If applicants do not receive a response by then, permission is automatically issued and the applicant proceeds with the fingerprinting process.

The Swedish job seeker visa is valid for three months, but can be extended up to nine months.

Visa applicants must meet the following conditions:

– have a bachelor's, master's or higher degree;

– have sufficient financial means to live in the country;

– be ready to look for a job or start your own business;

– have comprehensive health insurance

– have a valid passport;

– permanently reside outside of Sweden .

The Swedish authorities emphasize in their statements that the main focus is on attracting highly qualified foreign workers.
