Tourists are drawn to Kaliningrad like a magnet – the city is firmly entrenched in the glory of the center of all the most European. Gothic churches, ruins of medieval castles, gates, forts and museums – there are more than enough characteristic sights. Kant Island and the Fish Village really live up to the expectations of those who are looking for that very spirit of Prussian antiquity, but some places risk being disappointed and a return to the harsh Soviet reality. In the place of the Königsberg Castle demolished in 1968, an unfinished bulk now sticks out – a dull mixture of Soviet constructivism with typical “box” architecture of the 70s. This gigantic unfinished building, enclosed by a fence and painted with graffiti here and there, is for some reason actively promoted as one of the city's symbols. The building can even be seen on souvenir postcards. 1. The House of Soviets

2. Ruins of Königsberg Castle
All that remains of the impregnable citadel of the Teutonic Order is a pile of bricks and fragments of the foundation. It’s worth going there only for the guide’s fascinating stories about the history of Königsberg – exactly what to see especially and nothing to see. And if organized excursions are not included in your plans, you can look there only in passing – or not waste time at all.
3. Cathedral of Christ the Savior
The youngest temple in the city, erected in 2006, is also listed as a mandatory item in the lists of its attractions. The architecture of the building vaguely resembles the style of the Vladimir-Suzdal school of the 12th-14th centuries, but upon closer examination, it is a typical church new building: bulky and pompous, for the last 15 years such buildings have been erected in every regional center of Russia.

four. Concert Hall “House of Arts”
Another “hello” from the Soviet era. There are so many such structures all over the country, so it’s hardly worth spending time on visiting it. It is recommended to tourists only because there used to be a church on this place, where Immanuel Kant was baptized. But not even a brick is left of it, which means that we will again have to be content with the guide's stories. ru/sized/f550x700/8l/i8/8li87wwyb6skk4cw0ccoc080w.png” media=”(max-width: 549px)”> Concert Hall “House of Arts”Nadezhda Bogatyryova
< /ul> It is difficult to pass by the central square of the city, but it does not make much sense to linger on it. Yes, it is well-groomed and pleasant, but all that is there is a stele, a small fountain and a few benches. From afar, the port is visible from different parts of the city, but it’s clearly not worth going there on purpose. This is a huge industrial complex with kilometer-long berths, dozens of docks, engineering structures and warehouses. It will be interesting only for fans of industrial landscapes. 4m/9y4mhqhe71kows84s0o8wc0c8.jpg” media=”(max-width: 549px)”> Anna Kurakina
The castle is located near Kaliningrad. It is generally well preserved, but many guests still remain unhappy with the visit, calling the building neglected and uninteresting, the museum exposition inside is weak and chaotic, and the tour itself is not worth the money. visit-kaliningrad. en5.
