Non-stop flights from Taoyuan International Airport to Vaclav Havel Airport in Prague will operate twice a week. Departures from Prague are scheduled on Wednesdays and Sundays. China Airlines will use its Airbus A350-900 on this route.
The new flights will provide passengers from Prague with convenient connections to China Airlines' Asia-Pacific destinations. On the other hand, non-stop flights to the Czech Republic are great news for the people of Taiwan. Almost a quarter of a million of them visited Prague in 2019.
According to CzechTourism, about 7.4 million foreign tourists arrived in the Czech Republic last year, almost the same number as ten years ago. However, it is still not possible to achieve the indicators that existed before the pandemic. Since the resource in terms of tourist flow from neighboring countries is practically exhausted, and the appearance of a mass tourist from Russia is not expected in the near future, an increase can only come from remote regions. Thus, long-haul routes are a priority for Czech tourism this year.
In 2019, tourists from Russia, China, South Korea and Japan spent an average of around 3,800 kroons per person per night in the Czech Republic, while domestic tourists spent a modest 700 kroons. Last year, for various reasons, the country missed about two million guests from the east.
In March 2023, direct flights to Prague – Seoul, and after the opening of air links with Taiwan in July this year, Prague tourism can expect a significant increase.
In 2019, a total of 191,336 tourists from Taiwan arrived in the Czech Republic. For comparison, last year there were only 13 & nbsp; 791, that is, a decrease of almost 93%. A direct flight between Prague and Taipei will certainly change that.
Prague will become the sixth European city to which China Airlines flies directly from Taipei, along with Frankfurt, Amsterdam, London, Rome and Vienna. Thus, China Airlines will increase its traffic to Taiwan to almost 30 flights per week.
Taiwan — it is not only a country of chips and other modern technologies. There are many tourist attractions here. The capital of Taipei, with a population of three million, is home to the National Palace Museum, which houses rare collections from the Forbidden City. Next year, the second tallest building in the world, bearing the number 101 in its name in terms of the number of floors, will celebrate its twentieth anniversary. The island abounds with wild tropical nature with gorges, mountains, lakes and thermal springs. A tenth of Taiwan's area is occupied by national parks.
Prague Airport currently operates long-haul Asian flights to Amman, Dubai, Doha, Muscat and Salalah. The direct route to Seoul is scheduled to resume at the end of March.
