According to the government, new rules that effective Monday, April 25, no longer require unvaccinated or partially vaccinated children aged 5 to 11 to be tested before entering the country if they arrive with a fully vaccinated adult.
Unvaccinated travelers 12 years of age and older will still be required to take a rapid antigen test the day before departure or PCR testing within 72 hours prior to departure. Alternative — a certificate of recovery issued by a medical institution in the last 6 months. Children under 5 have never been required to take tests.
From the same Monday, Canada allowed fully vaccinated tourists not to wear masks in public for 14 days after arriving in the country, and also lifted their quarantine, even if “at the neighbor's” an aircraft or group has tested positive for the virus.
All travelers to Canada must still complete a form on the ArriveCAN app or website. Domestically, vaccination is still required in order to board a plane or train. Masks are mandatory on board and at airports.
The decision to ease entry requirements comes just over a month after Canada canceled pre-arrival testing for vaccinated travelers.
