Brazilian Eve is ready to launch a flying taxi, and she is not the only one

United Airlines Airlines has placed an order for 200 electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft from Eve— subsidiary of the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer. Perhaps the business will not stop there, and the Americans will purchase another 200 cars.

In 2026, Eve plans to launch its four-seater flying taxi into commercial operation. According to the technical specifications, it will be able to reach a maximum speed of up to 200 kilometers per hour with a flight range of up to 96 kilometers.

According to Michael Leskinen, President of United Airlines Ventures, “United is once again making history by investing in eVTOL. The agreement with Eve is a significant step towards achieving zero carbon emissions by 2050.” The partnership with Eve will make United the first airline in the world to invest in two eVTOL startups at once.

In addition to Eve, rival flying taxi service Archer Aviation has received a $10 million deposit from United for 100 eVTOL devices in August 2022.

eVTOL — aircraft that take off and land vertically, — have great promise and are capable of revolutionizing urban transport.

In recent years, there has been a rapid increase in the production of eVTOL. By the middle of the next decade, more than 10 other companies will start producing electric air taxis.

Industry experts predict that the global market for eVTOL aircraft will be worth $30.8 billion by 2030. Growing demand for clean energy sources, quiet engines and new urban air mobility options will drive the development of flying taxis.
